Sunsail is offering 10% off all departures from April to September from Dubrovnik or Agana in 2018  which must be booked by 2 January.

Croatia is slated to continue to be a hot destination for 2018. Sunsail can take you off the beaten track with one of their comfortable yachts. So here are a few of our favourite destinations you could try if you want to get away from the crowds.

Brijuni Islands

Former Yugoslav president Josip Tito received two elephants from visiting PM Indira Gandi at this pine-fringed archipelago. One still roams the main island alongside mountain zebras and antelope. Home to more than 600 indigenous plants this is also the site of Croatia’s first beach club.

Tie up at any one of the tiny inlets here and feel like you are about to step into a forest. This national park is so quiet, monks can be found meditating here. Visit the lake that surrounds their Santa Maria home or the Odysseus Cave. Local seafood eatery Konoba Stermasi is perfect for dining. Try their speciality of crab tartare and amberjack sashimi and view two islands you can swim to from the shore.

Home to the world’s first royal skinny dip, Wallis Simpson took off her white suit when holidaying with the newly appointed King Edward VIII and swum in Kandarola Bay on Rab’s southern shores.

There’s even a plaque in the main square commemorating the big day, and a “Royal Corner” in the Grand Imperial Hotel which boasts black-and-white photographs of Wallis in bobby-socks and a rather sullen-looking Edward.

Lastovo was off limits to foreigners until the late 1980s, and today it remains delightfully isolated. Consisting of 46 islets, there are just 800 year-round residents. The translucent waters ripple over a mosaic of pebbles – a wonderful place for paddle-boarding. Discover some of the 200 kilometres of paths that meander around the islands and come nightfall see the finest stargazing in Europe.

Sunsail can map out an itinerary that will include some or all of these exotic anchorages.
