Summer is always a busy time for Discover Houston Tours. Many guests celebrate special occasions such as birthdays, engagements, weddings, anniversaries and more by enjoying a special tour. This season, Discover Houston Tours has seen a number of walkers doing just that.

Wedding Anniversary on Rice Village Chocolate Safari

The Heart of the Tunnel Walk is proving to be especially popular this season. This walk takes up to 16 people to 600 Travis Street’s 60th-floor sky lobby, through the Downtown Houston Tunnel System, to Pennzoil Place’s food court for lunch and to the Houston Visitors Center for souvenir shopping. Discover Houston Tours makes every tour special by offering a free cookie at Michael’s Cookie Jar in Pennzoil Place’s food court and a taste of fresh homemade pastries at Porch Swing Sweets in 801 Louisiana’s Tunnel.

One customer, Patty, said that she booked the Heart of the Tunnel Walk to celebrate her friend’s birthday with “something different.” Even though they were both born and raised in Houston, they “had a terrific time experiencing new places and things they never knew existed.” (Taken from TripAdvisor.com.)

Even something sad could become a joyous occasion.

Another customer, Lenda, said that she wanted to do something special on her 38th wedding anniversary in honor of her husband who had recently passed away. She asked her sister to join her on the Heart of the Tunnel Walk. Their guide, Mike, and the other participants made them both feel welcome, creating “a true day of honor” in remembrance of her husband. (Taken from TripAdvisor.com.)

Discover Houston Tours has put on hundreds of wedding receptions, bachelor and bachelorette parties, wedding anniversaries, birthday parties and company events as part of their Historic Downtown Pub Tour. The summer is a great time for this tour. The four bars and pubs visited on regular tours have unique stories and décor as well as creative cold drinks and delicious food.

Sonia, a Trip Advisor reviewer, took the Pub Tour as part of her honeymoon: “It was an excellent experience that we would like to repeat and recommend to our friends.”

Amanda, another Trip Advisor reviewer, brought her husband on the Pub Tour on his birthday.

“We’re not normally social people,” she wrote, “but we had a fantastic time learning about Houston AND spending time getting to know the other people on the tour. The bars we visited were an experience of their own, but I think the fellow tourists (who were all from the Houston area) really made the night.”

For private groups of 16, Discover Houston Tours can arrange appetizers on a balcony overlooking Market Square Park, dinner in one of the trendy or traditional restaurants in the Old Town of Houston, and dessert a la mode at the Line & Lariat in the Hotel Icon, followed by a night at the Icon or another hotel in the historic district.

Of course, there’s no question of celebrating on Discover Houston Tours’ Rice Village Chocolate Safari. The majority of participants choose this tour so that they and their friends and loved ones can savor chocolate from around the world while strolling through charming Rice Village on special occasions such as Valentine’s Day, Halloween, Christmas, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.
