Disney Attends Aime 2014 To Showcase Its World-Class, Imaginative Meetings Products

Everything a meeting professional needs to create the most magical of events can be found at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida – six spectacular convention resorts, more than 55,742 square metres of function space, four world-famous Theme Parks, five championship golf courses, high-energy nighttime entertainment complexes and award-winning dining.

As part of the largest expansion in Disney history, planners will find plenty of new private event options in the theme parks. The recently refurbished Test Track presented by Chevrolet features a sleek new “Chevrolet Design Center” where guests can create their own custom concept vehicles prior to buckling into their 6-person “SimCar” ride vehicle and putting their design through its paces on the exhilarating Test Track circuit. It’s revved up excitement at this attraction, which has long been a popular private-event location.

On the horizon, this summer the new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train debuts in the Magic Kingdom Park. This first-of-its kind attraction completes the largest expansion in the park’s history, bringing new attractions, entertainment and dining opportunities to Fantasyland, the most popular land in the world’s most popular theme park.

The magic for meeting attendees continues with the multi-year transformation of Downtown Disney into Disney Springs, scheduled to open in phases through 2016. This one-of-a-kind destination will offer a variety of shopping, dining and entertainment experiences for attendees to enjoy.
Also underway is Disney’s collaboration with filmmaker James Cameron and Lightstorm Entertainment to bring to life the mythical world of Pandora, inspired by Cameron’s AVATAR. Scheduled to open at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park in 2017, it will offer new nighttime entertainment and private-event options.

For groups, Walt Disney World Resort offers six dedicated meeting hotels – Disney Contemporary Resort (655 guest rooms and 10,684 square metre convention center), Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa (867 guest rooms and 3,175 square metre convention center), Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort (1,921 guest rooms and 20,440 square metre convention center), Disney Boardwalk Resort (372 guest rooms and 1,860 square metre convention center) and Disney Yacht & Beach Club Resorts (1,197 guest rooms and 6,780 square metre convention center).

After a full day of meetings, attendees can indulge in the therapeutic haven of pampering and wellness at the new Senses – A Disney Spa located at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. Across the resort, attendees can enjoy a broad range of outdoor activities including golf at one of the four championship courses, fishing, horseback riding, tennis, and a complete sports complex that is home to professional and amateur sporting events.
At night, there’s the excitement of two nighttime entertainment districts that are home to world-renowned restaurants and shopping. And permanent entertainment experiences like DisneyQuest and the Cirque du Soleil show La Nouba take entertainment to a new level.

The wraps are off a $1.5-billion-dollar expansion that offers even more excitement for meetings and incentives. At the center of the expansion are the completely re-imagined Disney California Adventure and its all-new Cars Land. The Disneyland Hotel – Orange County’s largest convention hotel – has also been completely re-imagined, offering dramatic new guest rooms and public areas and an incredible new pool and recreation complex.

As a meeting destination, the Disneyland Resort offers more than 16,500 square metres of flexible event space and three dedicated meeting hotels – Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa (745 rooms and an 1,860 square metre convention center), The Disneyland Hotel (969 guest rooms and a 12,635 square metre convention center) and Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel (489 rooms and a 2,229 square metres convention center).

Attendees also will find plenty to do when meetings are over. Downtown Disney offers shopping, dining and entertainment, while the Mandara Spa in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is home to indulgent massage and body treatments. There’s also the timeless enchantment, magic and fun of  Disneyland park and all the new attractions, entertainment and dining options that are part of the re-imagined Disney California Adventure. Best of all, the Disney hotels, theme parks and Downtown Disney are just a few steps away from one another, creating an entirely pedestrian-friendly resort.

Just 30 minutes from one of the world’s most exciting cities, Hong Kong Disneyland is an urban oasis covering 126 hectares on picturesque Lantau Island. The resort is home to Disneyland park, two elaborately themed hotels that offer a total of 1,000 rooms, a conference center, lush lawns and a lakeside recreation area.
All facets of the resort are within easy walking distance of one another, and the resort is also on the MTR rail line, putting attendees within 20 minutes of downtown Hong Kong.

Over the last three years a $460-million-dollar expansion has brought three completely new themed lands to Disneyland park, bringing the number of attractions and entertainment offerings to more than 100.

Toy Story Land shrinks attendees to the size of a toy where they discover attractions based on the popular Disney*Pixar film franchise. Nearby Grizzly Gulch is a Wild West township that’s home to a twisting, turning runaway-mine-train adventure. Guests enter the world of an eccentric adventurer in Mystic Point, home of the thrilling E-ticket attraction, Mystic Manor.

Scheduled to open in 2016, a fourth themed area based on Iron Man, will take guests on an epic adventure of a lifetime as they join Tony Stark in a battle against alien invaders across the city of Hong Kong. This E-ticket attraction will also include an area where guests can meet and take photos with Iron Man.

Whether MICE groups are making their first or 10th visit, there is always something new to discover. From new themed lands recently launched or under development to seasonal festivities, Hong Kong Disneyland provides a variety of immersive theme experiences and seasonal entertainment throughout the year.

Set on the pristine coastline of Oahu, Hawaii, Aulani, a Disney Resort & Spa (840 guest rooms), is an inspiring destination that offers unforgettable experiences for meeting attendees and top performers. This is a resort that emotionally connects with attendees, while it pays tribute to the arts and stories of Hawaiian culture.

In August the resort completed a stunning new expansion of its popular Waikolohe Valley water play area. Of special significance to meeting professionals is the new Hālāwai Lawn, which provides a 1,486 square metre, lushly landscaped environment for networking, entertainment functions and other special events. The new lawn is part of the resort’s total 4,645 square metres of function space, which includes a 1,300 square metre convention center.

Also new are an additional pool, a splash zone, Ulu Cafe and more deck space. The sun and water fun extend to the very edge of the resort property, with the new pool’s “infinity edge” that overlooks the resort lagoon.
Aulani offers groups more than just incredible accommodations and event facilities. Attendees can indulge in luxurious massage and hydrotherapy treatments offered by the Laniwai Spa. Adventures by Disney also offers guided experiences for attendees to explore the lush, tropical forests, hike local mountains, sail aboard catamarans, swim with dolphins, cook with local chefs, follow a ghost tour and more.
