Holidaymakers will give Australia’s economy and tourism industry a welcome boost by choosing to stay on home soil for their last minute Easter getaways, a major travel company said today.

Travelzoo Australia, the largest online publisher of travel and lifestyle deals, says it has been encouraged by a recent uptick in demand for domestic day trips and activities.

Recent figures from Tourism Research Australia show there were nearly 77 million days trips taken in Australia by residents last year1, and Travelzoo Australia is upbeat about the domestic travel market after its sold-out Sydney dinner cruise attracted more than 2,000 passengers earlier this month.

To further stimulate holiday activity, Travelzoo Australia, has unveiled a series of deals for those looking to embark on a last-gasp Easter adventure.

Brad Gurrie, Managing Director at Travelzoo Australia, which has 700,000 subscribers, said he hopes even more Aussies choose to seek out domestic holiday activities.

“There are still plenty of deals out there that offer real value for money this Easter. And just because you’re enjoying the best Australia has to offer doesn’t mean you have to break the bank,” he said.

“Staying at home can offer holiday goers big savings and give our tourism industry a welcome shot in the arm. We’re offering some great deals to prove Australia can be more than a match for any international destination when it comes to saving money on travel.”
