The schooner America is coming to Plymouth, Massachusetts, as part of the America’s Cup Tour to bring you a day filled with fun and excitement, not to mention history and tradition. by Plymouth 400, the organization planning the 400th anniversary of the 1620 Mayflower voyage and founding of Plymouth Colony, America will offer educational programming and opportunities for sailing, and will be an impressive addition to historic Plymouth harbor from August 15-20.

The yacht is a painstaking replica of the original America, which in 1851 stunned the world by winning the legendary sailing race around the Isle of Wight and taking home the trophy that now bears her name, the America’s Cup. America’s upcoming stay in Plymouth Harbor will give visitors and locals the opportunity to see this historic vessel up close; an opportunity that the ship’s Captain, Troy Sears, says likely will not come around again for many years, as America will return to the West Coast later this year.
