Doraemon arrives at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong through the Dokodemo door

With the Dokodemo door, Doraemon will no longer be just an imaginary character but one which fans can meet up close. Be prepared for the surprises Doraemon has in store for us in his fourth dimensional pocket!

Madame Tussauds Hong Kong is proud to welcome Doraemon, the well-loved character from Japan at Fantasy Kingdom. Doraemon’sfavourite futuristic gadget, the Dokodemo door, allows him to travel to any location of his choice, and this time it is Hong Kong! Fans will get to welcome Doraemon with flash cameras to capture the precious moment when they open the Dokodemo door and cheer for their favourite cartoon superstar with the landmark Hong Kong Victoria Harbour night scene as backdrop. This childhood favourite will join the Children’s Favourites zone in the newly opened Fantasy Kingdom, bringing a new level of excitement to visitors.

Doraemon was created by the famed manga artists Fujiko F. Fujio and first appeared in a magazine series in 1970 whereby the cat-type robot from the 22nd century, with his bag of gadgets in his fourth dimensional pocket, travelled back from the future world to aid a pre-teen boy called Nobita Nobi. Since his first appearance, Doraemon has become the all-time dream hero for children and adults.

Doraemon has recently been appointed Japan’s special ambassador in Tokyo’s bid for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic games. He was also selected as the only anime character among Asia’s 22 heroes by Time Asia magazine in 2002.

“We are delighted to welcome Japan’s most beloved anime character to our latest attraction,” says Kelly Mak, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong. “It is very exciting for us to launch childhood characters, making dreams come true for kids and seeing the happy faces when they finally meet the cartoon characters from their childhood. Fans can now make use of Doraemon’s secret gadgets to meet with their best friend and spend a fun day out with family and friends at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong.”

The Doraemon wax figure took four months to create and joins a cast of world famous celebrities at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong,ranging from the ever-popular Super Hero characters to A-list stars like Robert Pattinson and Madonna.
