Australia’s appointment with Dr Ben Goldacre draws closer with An evening with Dr Ben Goldacre taking place in September. Think Inc. is thrilled to be getting a second opinion from our very own local physician, Dr Brad McKay, who will be hosting the events in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.

Best known to audiences as one of the resident medical experts and hosts of Logie-Nominated television programme Embarrassing Bodies Down Under, Dr Brad is a regular advisor and commentator on health issues for a number of local television and radio shows, including The Today Show, The Project and ABC local radio. He is also a regular contributor to News.com.au.

Dr Brad began his medical studies at the tender age of 16, studying at Monash University and qualifying as a Doctor by age 21. Dr Brad is a General Practitioner and Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, with a strong interest in areas of health promotion, preventive medicine, mental health and sexual health. He is also on the committee for the Australian Skeptics, lending his expertise to combat pseudo-scientific medical claims, from anti-vaxxers to sunscreen denialists.

“Dr Ben Goldacre is a refreshing breath of fresh air in a stuffy cupboard of scientific research,” says Dr Brad. “We can’t reach the right conclusion if we don’t have all the evidence, and he is a driving force behind transparency in science. You can’t believe everything you’re told and you certainly can’t believe everything you’re not told.”

British science communicator, academic, researcher, rationalism advocate, physician and journalist Dr Ben Goldacre is known for his acerbic take on the dangers implicit in the modern trend of spreading scientific misinformation, and how to calibrate our bullsh*t meters. In his media appearances, weekly Bad Science columns for The Guardian and best-selling books (Bad Science, 2008; Bad Pharma: How Drug Companies Mislead Doctors and Harm Patients, 2012; I Think You’ll Find It’s a Bit More Complicated Than That, 2014), Dr Ben Goldacre interjects on behalf of reason and pulls no punches when it comes to maintaining scientific integrity.

An evening with Dr Ben Goldacre is hosted by Think Inc. Think Inc. is a young, Australian-based initiative dedicated to reinvigorating the thrill of rational discourse in daily conversation. Through engaging events with world-class minds, Think Inc. brings excitement to intellectual fields. Audiences are invited to discuss “smart answers to big questions” alongside the heavyweights, with past speakers including the likes of Dr Michio Kaku, Dr Neil deGrasse Tyson, Edward Snowden and Sam Harris.
