Dreamlines GmbH has promoted Alastair Fernie to Managing Director of Dreamlines Australia PTY LTD, the Australian division of the worldwide online cruise company based in Hamburg, Germany.
Dreamlines Australia operates the CruiseAway brand which was one of the first online cruise retail companies in Australia.
Mr Fernie was General Manager of Harvey’s Choice Holidays where he launched Harvey’s Choice Cruising before going on to create The Cruise Team, now a part of the Helloworld wholesale group. He also spent some time as General Manager of Ecruising prior to his move to Dreamlines.
Founder and Managing Director of Dreamlines GmbH Felix Schneider said Mr Fernie’s positive effect has been immediate.
“Since joining Dreamlines in April, Mr Fernie has significantly enhanced our presence in the Australian market and I am delighted to recognise his contribution in this newly created role,” Mr Schneider said.
“Dreamlines is the only online cruise retailer with a global footprint, operating in 9 countries worldwide. Australia is an important market for us and Mr Fernie’s experience will be essential in its growth.”
Mr Fernie said he was excited to work with the motivated, experienced team of experts at CruiseAway who have fostered a strong relationship with customers and travel partners for more than 15 years.
“I am thrilled to be part of the dynamic and fast-growing Dreamlines business and excited about this new opportunity.”
While customers love to cruise locally, international cruising is an increasingly popular way for Australians to discover spectacular destinations further from home, and Mr Fernie said it’s here that Dreamlines’ international connections complement CruiseAway’s local expertise with a global edge.
“As international enquiries increase, we can draw on a vast network of cruise experts and cruise line relationships from around our network to provide the most superior advice and best deals possible.
“This is what sets CruiseAway apart, and it’s one of the many advantages of Dreamlines’ strong international presence.”
Mr Fernie replaces former Head of Australia, Fabian Scholz, who operated CruiseAway since September 2015.
