Dreamtime 2015, Tourism Australia’s signature incentive product showcase, kicked off this morning at the Adelaide Convention Centre, firmly placing the international spotlight on Australia’s business events offering.
More than 100 qualified international buyers and media from around the world were warmly welcomed to Dreamtime 2015 with the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains of South Australia providing the official Welcome to Country, followed by opening remarks from Tourism Australia and global airline partner Virgin Australia.
Tourism Australia’s Deputy CEO, Frances-Anne Keeler said it was the first time Dreamtime had been held in South Australia.
“We are very excited to be hosting Dreamtime in Adelaide for the first time to highlight Australia’s strengths as a business events destination,” Ms Keeler said, “The unprecedented level of business events infrastructure the city is undergoing, coupled with the strong food and wine heritage of South Australia means our hosted buyers and media will have a truly unique experience.”
Following the official opening of Dreamtime 2015, the Australian business events industry hosted dedicated meetings with buyers, providing an opportunity to strengthen relationships, discuss upcoming business opportunities with decision makers, and meet with new potential clients.
The business sessions have been designed to represent the Australian landscape, with theming featuring bespoke water-colour graphics evoking the vastness, beauty and diversity of the Australian continent that provides the perfect back-drop to corporate incentive programs.
This visually engaging space also included other sensory experiences, including Virgin Australia’s Café and pamper area, offering mini-treatments to help buyers recharge between meetings. Also on display, the new Virgin Australia Business Class seat, centrepiece of the recently launched A330 domestic business class and international business class offering.
Day one will conclude with the Dreamtime Welcome event at the iconic Penfolds Magill Estate, with guests experiencing the absolute best in South Australian food, wine and hospitality.
Adelaide Convention Bureau Chief Executive Officer, Damien Kitto said, “South Australia is renowned for producing incredible food and wine. The convenience of Adelaide and its surrounds, and the enviable lifestyle we enjoy has been globally recognised. In hosting Dreamtime we want to welcome guests to our home and also show them that when it comes to delivering outstanding business events, our local industry is second to none”.
Guests will enjoy exclusive tastings of Penfolds, as well as having the opportunity to visit the famous underground cellars and newly opened Magill Estate Kitchen.
