Digital cameras tethered to the latest remote-controlled drones have been used to capture unique footage of the Sunshine Coast’s dramatic natural attractions for a major new promotional campaign that will be launched later this year.

Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd (SCDL) and Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) commissioned leading advertising agency Mojo and Taxi Film Production to film the natural icons of the region including the Pumicestone Passage, Glass House Mountains, Noosa National Park and Carlo Sandblow. The filming also included- attractions such as the popular Eumundi Markets and historic Hinterland town of Montville.

The theme of the campaign is based on the Sunshine Coast’s “Naturally Refreshing” branding, which showcases the region’s rich and diverse attractions.

The campaign will be launched later this year and will cover key markets including Melbourne, Sydney and – for the first time – New Zealand. The Sunshine Coast is serviced by direct flights from a number of Australian destinations as well as international flights by Air New Zealand from Auckland.

Footage from the shoot will be used extensively on TV and through other traditional and online media as well as across Sunshine Coast Destination’s online and social media channels.

Commenting on the campaign, Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd (SCDL), CEO Simon Ambrose said that the new technology was the best means of capturing the dramatic natural beauty of the Sunshine Coast.

“Our campaign aims to highlight that the Sunshine Coast offers far more than just sunshine and the coast – as attractive as they are – and the drone technology was perfect for providing a bird’s eye view of landscapes such as the Glass House Mountains, Pumicestone Passage, the Hinterland villages and the Noosa National Park,” said Mr Ambrose.

“We are very excited with the initial footage and look forward to seeing Mojo convert the raw material into a powerful promotional campaign that will enhance further the Sunshine Coast’s reputation as a premier holiday and conferencing destination.”
