The 125th Canton Fair is being held in Guangzhou. Du Xu, Managing Director of Guangdong Foodstuffs Imp & Exp Group Co., Ltd., (hereinafter referred to as GDF) said in an interview that it is necessary to strictly control food quality and safety, and strive to promote China’s food standard, thereby letting “Chinese cuisine” and “Chinese taste” goes global.http://www.stevecafeandcuisine.com/

Shrimp dumpling, shaomai (a kind of steamed dumpling with the dough gathered at the top), xiaolongbao (a type of Chinese steamed bun/baozi)… Whenever Chinese food is mentioned, many foreigners can call them in Chinese fluently. GDF has constantly increased the global recognition of “Chinese taste” through improving the taste of soy sauce, pigs, chilled chicken and poultry products, wheaten food, Jiangmen-style rice noodle, canned fish and so on. In 2018, “Pearl River Bridge” soy sauce contributed to about one-third of GDF’s total product export and to nearly 20% of China’s total soy sauce export.

Founded in 1954, GDF has participated in the Canton Fair for more than 60 years. In 1957, it witnessed US$4.99 million of total export value at the first Canton Fair. By 2018, its exports have totaled US$13.3 billion. GDF’s products have been exported to more than 140 countries and regions. Exports accounts for 70% of the group’s total turnover. In particular, Europe and the United States are its main export markets.

“We are trying to promote China’s food standard, a standard of taste, so that foreign markets can sell more quality Chinese products and gradually accept Chinese food culture,” said Du Xu.
Food safety is the first checkpoint to pass. According to Du, the safety and quality GDF’s food are ensured through a series of strict safety monitoring, which covers the source of agricultural products, food processing, temperature control, automated packaging, etc.

“In terms of safety control at the source of agricultural products, we have built 4 high-standard pig farms in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area to better guarantee the supply of quality products in the greater bay area.” As said by Du Xu, GDF is planning to build a high-standard and high-security pig slaughtering center in the greater bay area, and complete the building of a high-standard pig farm in the near future that can accommodate more than one million pigs and is equipped with a good downstream processing base to grow a safe and high-quality meat products processing industry with a production value of over 10 billion CNY in the greater bay area.
