Dubai Tourism recently organised a global media famil to feature the OMEGA Dubai Desert Classic (held on the 27th of January to 2nd of February) and to explore Dubai as a sporting destination.

The Australian representatives included Bradley Clifton (Editor-in-Chief of Australian Golf Digest) and Bradley Clifton (Day Editor of The Daily Telegraph) who travelled with Dubai Tourism ANZ’s General Manager of Trade Relations and Partnerships, Veronica Rainbird, to Dubai.

Dubai Desert Classic celebrated its 25th year in 2014. The Desert Classic has been fundamental in promoting Dubai as a golf destination and was the spur for the development of golf in Dubai. For its 25th birthday it brought back a number of past champions including Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. The 2014 tournament was won by Stephen Gallacher (Scotland) winning € 303,268 of the USD$ 2.5 million Prize Money.

This media mission was aimed to increase awareness of Dubai as a golfing and leading sports and events destination as well as showcasing Dubai’s adventure experiences. Madinat Jumeirah & Jumeirah Zabeel Saray hosted the group’s stay in Dubai and their exciting program included an F1 Single Seater Racing Experience at the Dubai Autodrome, skiing and snowboarding at Ski Dubai, a unique desert safari experience, a round of golf in Dubai’s outstanding golf courses including the ELS Club and Arabian Ranches Golf Club and the amazing culinary experiences at Madinat Jumeirah and Jumeirah Zabeel Saray including the amazing Friday Champagne Brunch, a Dubai institution.
