A new exhibition showcasing a small collection of original works by renowned Scottish artist, Jack Vettriano, opens to the public on Saturday 25th July at Duff House, in Banff.
Curated by local gallery owner and collector, Mark Gask of Gallery i, Jack Vettriano – a Scottish Artist will see some of the Fife-born artist’s well-known pieces feature alongside a series of limited edition prints from throughout his career, including some of his earlier works.
The 10-week-long exhibition at Duff House features four original oil-on-canvas art works by the contemporary artist, Union Jack 2, Future world, Suddenly One Summer and the Covert Caller. Drawn from a private collector for this exhibition, they showcase the retro-inspired style that Vettriano is famous for.
A series of limited edition prints and silk screen printings, depicting some of Vettriano’s best-known scenes will also go on display as part of the exhibition. Including Dancer in Emerald and The Singing Butler – arguably one of his most iconic works, showing a butler holding an umbrella over a dancing couple on a windswept beach. A selection of prints from his more recent Red Room Collection will also be on display.
Commenting on the exhibition, Lorna Ewan, Head of Head of Visitor Experience, Content and Learning for Historic Scotland, who operate the House, said: “Jack Vettriano – a Scottish Artist, which opens to the public at Duff House on Saturday 25th July, will showcase a private collection of four original works by one of Scotland’s leading artists, set alongside a larger number of his limited edition prints.
“With his work being so famous in reproduction, I’m sure people will enjoy this opportunity to view a small sample of his work in the flesh. Drawn from a private collection, this could be the first time for many to see these originals and we are expecting it to be popular with visitors and fans alike.”
Mark Gask, Founder of Inverurie-based Gallery i, who loaned the paintings and limited edition prints for the exhibition, added: “Duff House is the perfect setting for this more intimate style exhibition, featuring a number of original art works by one of Scotland’s most famous contemporary artists. The exhibition will also see one of the originals – Future World – available to purchase, as are all of the limited edition prints.”
