DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau Introduces innovative STEAM Discovery Tours to the International Tourism Market
The DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) will be representing the DuPage County tourism industry at the U.S. Travel Association’s Annual International Pow Wow (IPW) conference and will be introducing its STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) Discovery Tours. The tours, developed in partnership with The Center for Gifted/Midwest Torrance Center for Creativity, were created with courses specifically designed to meet the unique educational needs of curious learners within the “laboratory” of America’s Heartland.
The Museum of Science+Industry Chicago
The goal of the tours is to help develop future generations of scientists and engineers through an exploration of world-class facilities and knowledge. The participants will be able to experience cutting edge advances in American technology within the Illinois Technology and Research Corridor with courses available in kinetic energy and electronics lab, chemical cacophony, genetics, advanced mathematics, economics, engineering, forensic science, web design, creative writing, performing arts, and more.
“We feel that this is an amazing opportunity to develop and awaken young creativity and challenge curious minds while experiencing the wealth of resources in DuPage County and the Chicagoland area,” states Beth Marchetti, Executive Director of the DCVB.
One to three week sessions can be customized to meet the needs of the students and interests including:
• Tour of top scientific destinations such as Argonne National Laboratories and Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory
• Experiences in American history at the First Division War Museum at Cantigny and Naper Settlement Outdoor Living History Museum
• Exploration of American architecture through the eyes of Frank Lloyd Wright, Mies van der Rohe and others
• Concluding the tours with a customized Chicago experience
Planners can choose from over 100 hotels with brand names such as Choice, Hilton, Holiday Inn, Hyatt, Marriott and more.
