Earthlings Beware: ‘Alien Attack’ Ride Opens in China

One of China’s largest amusement parks, Chimelong Paradise, opened its newest and most exciting ride, Alien Attack, yesterday.

Alien Attack is an adventure ride. Guests board a transporter and suddenly find themselves being ambushed by invaders from another world. The spectacular special effects of the in-flight battle are stunningly realistic.

“We design and build thrills,” states Peter Schnabel, President of Dynamic Attractions, the company that built the media based attraction. “Being a part of Chimelong Paradise’s most anticipated ride is an honour for us. Riders will want to ride it again and again.”

This is Chimelong Paradise’s first 5D ride, meaning it combines a 3D movie with synchronized movement and on-board special effects such as wind, scent and mist. The ‘transporter’ has a multi-axis base, which provides the amazing movements that are necessary. An enormous screen completely surrounds the three vehicles, creating what is believed to be the amusement industry’s most realistic ‘immersive’ experience.

Alien Attack took 16 months to build. Over the past two months, riders have been getting a sneak peek at the park’s newest feature. Yesterday marks the completion of the ride.

Dynamic Attractions partnered with Oscar-winning CGI moviemaker Prana/Rhythm and Hues as well as Kraftwerk, a renowned audio visual company, to build the ride. Behind the scenes, the attraction has a complex network of 12 ultra-high resolution projectors and a sophisticated multi-directional sound system.
