EAST Hotel was awarded Best Suite/Apartment Hotel at the 2013 AHA National Awards for Excellence. The awards were held in the nation’s capital for the first time to celebrate Canberra’s Centenary.

More than 450 hotel industry leaders, hoteliers, special guests, diplomats and parliamentarians attended the Awards.

“Our vision has always been to create a hotel at the forefront of boutique accommodation that would be at home in any global city,” said Dan Bisa, owner of EAST Hotel and Director of Bisa Hotels. “We have created a contemporary design and lifestyle hotel that addresses the environment and services that the modern traveller is looking for. EAST is a happy place for guests whilst providing excellent service and accommodation that is comfortable and yet highly detailed in its planning and attention to the little things that make a big difference. We are thrilled to win this award in our first year, and look forward to many more!

AHA National Chief Executive Officer Des Crowe said the prestigious Awards hailed hotels and restaurants that demonstrated outstanding services, accommodation, entertainment, food and beverage.

“Winning a national AHA award is an outstanding achievement – and a tribute to the hard work and dedication of these hotels and restaurants,” Mr Crowe said.

EAST Hotel provides a contemporary, cool and vibrant option for visitors to Canberra, whether overnighters, business guests, long stay guests or families. The six-story hotel has 140 rooms in various studio and apartment-style combinations, recognizing the challenges families can face with hotel accommodation by providing specially designated suites, cleverly designed in a modular, fun way specifically to cater for both adults and kids. The hotel has standalone dining and bar facilities, with Ox Eatery and it’s associated Bar and Delicatessen having become an instant classic.

“From the outset of my involvement with East Hotel, I recognized the scope of the Bisa family’s vision through the well-considered design, execution of materials and desire for unique service execution,” said Todd Handy, General Manager of East Hotel. “This first 12 months of operation has been an incredible journey working for wonderful owners, creating a highly sought after service culture and building the best team I have ever worked with. To win 4 local AHA awards and a national AHA award for the Best Suite/Apartment Hotel within the first year of operation is an incredible feat and a tribute to everyone involved.  Thank you to the Australian Hotels Association for their support, to our incredible guests who provide useful feedback and to our critics who help us to grow stronger. I am excited as to where the coming years will take us at East Hotel and on a larger scale with Bisa Hotels.”
