Port Stephens is the place to be this Easter weekend, with a Blues and Brews Festival held at Murray’s Brewery, free entertainment on the foreshore and a special Easter dinner cruise with Moonshadow Cruises.

Murrays Brewery5A beer that tastes like a hot cross bun, made with raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg and other spices, will headline the Easter Blues and Brews Festival along with blues bands Sugar and Catfish Soup. The festival runs all weekend and is described by organisers as a tribute to flavour, fine foods and family fun.

Visitors to the brewery festival will be able to sample a range of different beer styles and flavours from the leading craft brewer, as well as food dishes made with or matched to beer, all served up to a background of blues music, with Sugar performing funk, soul, reggae and blues tunes at a free concert on Easter Saturday, and blues band Catfish Soup staging a second free concert on Easter Sunday.

A festival first at Murray’s for 2014 is the Easter Sunday Kids Funday, a family event with cupcake decorating, Easter-themed crafts, bunny petting, a visit from the Easter Bunny and a giant Easter Egg hunt. Parents are asked to make a gold coin donation for their child to take part in the festivities, with funds raised donated to Mem’s Soul Food ‘Recipes To Life’, a program which assists disadvantaged girls in the region.
