Easter Offerings At Hotel Café Royal

March 11, 2017 Food & Beverage No Comments Email Email

Sarah Barber, Executive Pastry Chef at Hotel Café Royal, has developed a range of handmade celebratory cakes and sweets to mark this Easter season. The offering will include a selection of ten desserts and two luxury chocolate Easter eggs that highlight Sarah’s creative skill and imagination, as well as her playful style, which has been inspired by her childhood memories, and her grandfather, who was a previous Head Chef at Hotel Café Royal.

To represent the occasion in the typically extravagant style synonymous with Hotel Café Royal, Sarah has created two versions of a traditional chocolate Easter egg. One is a dramatic one metre high Valrhona chocolate shell, weighing 75 kgs, painted with edible chocolate gold leaf and filled with gold Dulcey pecan nut praline that takes Sarah and her team three days to mould and decorate. Only two of these will be made, one will be on display in the hotel lobby, and the other for public sale (£600). The second, a smaller, more traditional chocolate egg, glazed with Valrhona milk chocolate, painted with edible gold leaf and filled with salted caramel truffles, will be produced in larger numbers and available to purchase from 31 March in The Café at £45.

The ten handmade Easter desserts from the ‘Café Easter Collection’ menu – available from 27 March to 14 April – have been created with the traditional inspirations of Easter in mind, but influenced by Sarah’s own creative touch. The menu of ten dishes includes Rhubarb vanilla slice (£6), Red velvet cake, raspberry vanilla mousse (£7), Raspberry ‘rabbit’ macaroon (£7), Hot cross bun cake (£6), Dulcey and orange choux (£6), Ferrero Rocher bombe (£6), Passionfruit and mango bar (£7), Hazelnut praline macaroon (£6), Simnel cake (two sizes available large £25 or small £6) and a larger Carrot pecan loaf with sugared carrots (£25).
