Ecuador wins 14 prizes in the “World Travel Awards”
Ecuador won 14 awards at the 2015 WTA Latin America thanks to the committed work of the National Government through the Ministry of Tourism. For the third consecutive year, Ecuador is elected as Leader Green Destination in South America and Quito as the Destination leader in the region, the most important recognition in the WTA, known as the Oscar of tourism.
The awards, which are presented annually in different categories, are intended to recognize tourism businesses that are pushing the boundaries of excellence in the travel industry, tourism and overall hospitality. The awards ceremony took place this Saturday (October 10th) in Bogotá, Colombia.
Ecuador captivates the world
“These international awards confirm once again that Ecuador continues to captivate the world with its spectacular destinations and tourism products, which has earned it worldwide recognition as a place with great potential to offer to visitors,” said Minister of Tourism Sandra Naranjo, when knows the results.
The Minister of State expressed satisfaction with the awards gained in this twenty-second edition of the WTA 2015 Latin America and ratified the support of the Ecuadorian Government to continue positioning the country as a world class tourist destination that has everything so close and in one place.
She also stressed promotion strategies that the Ministry of Tourism has executed this year in the target markets, as the promotion show in the Super Bowl and the campaign Feel Again, the new stage of All You Need Is Ecuador, which attracts the eyes of all over the world since last May.
This is compounded, she said, by the new airlines coming into the country, new routes and increased operational capacity of the aircraft, and the increase in terms of tourism investment; especially the construction of 30 tourism projects with an investment of USD 750 million between 2015 and 2016.
2017 is expected to consolidate an investment of USD 1,600 million, from domestic and foreign capital, showing that Ecuador has tax incentives and clear rules to be an ideal investment destination.
“Ecuador has made great strides in recent years, and is now a tourist force to be reckoned within South America,” said the founder and president of World Travel Awards, Graham Cooke, “The harvest of awards this year is a reflection of the country’s success in positioning itself not only as a unique destination – with Quito and Ecuador, the two winners – but also through high quality products such as Finch Bay Eco Hotel, winner of America South of Leading Green Hotel for the third consecutive year. “
