El Camino Cantina is bringing its legendary Tex-Mex, famous frozen margaritas and sombrero-splashed party vibe to the northern beaches with a 365-seat restaurant and spectacular dining terrace opening on the new rooftop of Manly Wharf.

Opening on Friday, 9 November, El Camino promises an unrivalled line-up of Tex-Mex treats, including complimentary and unlimited tortilla chips and vibrant salsas, soft shell tacos topped with piquant ingredients, sizzling chargrilled fajitas, burritos fat with fillings, and hot buffalo wings; super-sized classic and frozen margaritas, local, regional and Mexican draught and bottled beers and over 100 tequilas and mezcals; and jukeboxes loaded with music that will blow the mind.

At 6pm a mariachi band kicks off the Friday celebrations, which include a ticketed, two-hour food and beverage package ($69pp) comprising of Tex-Mex bites, margaritas, beer, wine and bubbles. The night will heat up with a DJ, chilli eating competition and pop-up bars serving speciality margaritas and tequila shots. Grab a free sombrero and let El Camino Cantina spice up the night. Tickets can be purchased here.

DJs will play throughout the launch weekend to the backdrop of El Camino’s festive Tex-Mex vibe and uncompromised rooftop view of Manly Cove. The stunning terrace accommodates 100 diners and is perfect for weekday happy hours, long weekend lunches, boozy brunches and margarita-inspired sunset soirées.

Inside guests can sit up at a large horse-shoe shaped bar where eight frozen margarita making machines will be in full swing. Throughout the restaurant there is a mix of high-top, large-group tables and settings for smaller groups and couples. A striking red light bulb installation hangs above the main dining area.

Over the launch weekend guests can super-charge the start of summer with El Camino’s famous margaritas. They’re socially obligatory inside these eclectic Tex-Mex digs and come in various sizes – 15oz, 24oz and a cheeky, 2-litre tower; several irresistible flavours – classic, mango and strawberry; and are served either frozen, or on the rocks. A limited-edition Skinny Organic rita and bright blue Tiffany rita will be available for the launch.

Diners can also explore a range of menus from weekend brunch (11am-2pm), to late night options and several set menus, including ‘fajita fiesta’ and all you can eat tacos. El Camino ushers in its first Sunday Session on Sunday, 11 November from 11am, with a DJ from midday and permission to end the weekend on a super-chilled high, Tex-Mex style.

Rockpool Dining Group Chief Executive Officer Thomas Pash said El Camino Cantina’s northern beaches’ debut was perfectly timed for summer.

“There will be no better place to enjoy summer than from El Camino Cantina’s rooftop vantage point, with frozen margaritas and ice-cold Mexican beers washing down some of our fantastic Tex-Mex dishes,” he said.

“We take a no holds barred approach to all things Tex-Mex: from the food and drinks, to the fitout and music and we’re inviting all of Manly to come and join us for a fabulous opening weekend fiesta and start to summer.”

El Camino Cantina features all the hallmarks of Texan meets Mexican interior design, including dozens of neon lights, custom-designed flame artwork, rock n’roll and muscle car inspired decorative touches, life-size Mexican caricatures painted on walls, and original art and concert posters from Australian artist Ben Brown.

Mexican accents include elaborate, reclaimed wooden doors, intricate tiles, lattice ceiling features with hints of a beach hacienda, an internal cactus garden and natural textures such as bare brick and stone, rustic timber, rusted metal panels, and polished concrete floors.

After the launch weekend a range of affordable and unmissable daily deals kick in, including happy hour every weekday from 4pm to 6pm, delivering happiness in $7.50 margaritas, beers, wines and tequilas; $2 Taco Tuesday; 10-cent chicken wings every Wednesday; half price fajitas on Thursdays; and a $15 burrito and beer lunch special from Monday to Friday. There is also a 1kg, $59 burrito challenge – customers receive the burrito for free if they can eat it in under one hour.

Guests can also sign up to become an El Camino Amigo and enjoy rock-star benefits, including extended happy hour (4pm-7pm), $25 birthday voucher, invitations to monthly Amigos parties, and exclusive discounts and early bird deals to big ticket parties, such as New Year’s eve.
