The Second Elder Care Asia (ECA) will take place from November 17-20, 2016, at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center. The trade show will cover three main categories, namely healthcare, lifestyles (food, fitness, fun, and wellness), and architecture (facilities, rehab, and services), while the fourth Annual Global Health Conference and Industry Forum will be held concurrently and will focus on geriatric and health care.

A main feature of this year’s event is the display of a smart home for the elderly. In line with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities campaign launched by the Kaohsiung City Government, the smart home for the elderly, along with assistive devices and space planning, will be the highlight of the Kaohsiung City Government Pavilion at the show. In addition, the Golden Community Care Service Award ceremony will be held during the show to recognize communities with superior care services. Finalists of all ages will gather at the ceremony to share the joy.

To add to the main event, there will be three conferences also concurrently taking place: the World Congress of Oral & Dental Medicine, World Congress of Geriatrics and Gerontology, and World Congress of Food and Nutrition. Combined, these three days will serve as a premier platform for exploring business opportunities in the smart health industry. Researchers and professionals from 30 countries specialized in the fields of geriatrics, elder care, nutrition and health, and wearable devices, as well as public health will participate in the conference. Keynote speakers Yvonne van Amerongen-Heijer, founder of the world’s first village for dementia patients, De Hogeweyk located in the Netherlands, and Hideaki Fujita, founder of the renowned Japanese elderly day-care institute Sawahonpo, will share with the participants their experiences with modern geriatric care.
