Elma Arts Center Presents “Toujours Mozart” International Music Festival Honoring The Composer, January 25-27, 2018

Elma Arts Complex and Luxury Hotel, a 95-room-and suite property located in Zichron Yaakov which is home to Israel’s most state of-the-art performance hall, will host the annual “Tojours Mozart Festival,” a three-day music festival featuring a lineup of orchestral and classical performances, masterclasses and workshops, for the second consecutive year, January 25-27, 2018.

Throughout the three-day festival, attendants will be treated to a rich and varied program of 29 events, including performances and events by 60 top Israeli and international artists, in addition to lectures and workshops on the subject of classical music.

A selection of the works will be performed by the Israel Mozart Orchestra, which was established especially for the festival. The orchestra will play authentic period instruments, in the historical style and without a conductor – as at the time when the works were composed.

The festival will open and close with a special concert: “Academy in Vienna” (Thursday, January 25 and Saturday, January 27 at 7:30 P.M.), which will present arias and scenes from renowned opera Indomeneo including:

  • K.366
  • Rondo for Piano
  • Orchestra in A major
  • K.386
  • Quintet for Piano and Winds
  • K.452
  • the Jupiter Symphony in C major

Each of the arias will be performed by the following vocalists and musicians:

  • Sopranos Claire Meghnagi and Hadas Faran-Asia
  • Tenor Markus Schafer
  • Zvi Meniker on the fortepiano
  • Aviad Gershoni on the oboe
  • Gili Rinot on the clarinet
  • Eyal Streett on the bassoon
  • Alon Reuven on the horn
  • The Israel Mozart Orchestra

The festival will include events that are open to the general public free of charge, including a birthday celebration the composer’s 262nd birthday (he was born on January 27, 1756); the screening of a Mozart Documentary and the “Mozart By Everyone” project, which provides a platform for amateur musicians, students and young players. The opening concert will be aired live on the Kan (Israel Public Broadcasting Corporation) Voice of Music radio station, 97.2 FM.

For those who reserve early, Elma’s guest packages will start from NIS 2,570 a night +VAT (approximately $725USD) for a double room (a minimum of 2 nights), half board.  This package includes overnight stays and tickets to all festival events.

Daily tickets for festival events are priced as follows:

  • Mozart for Friday (January 26) – NIS 440
  • Mozart for Saturday (January 27) – NIS 520
  • Mozart for the weekend (Friday to Saturday , January 25-27) – NIS 720.
  • Tickets for individual concerts are also available.
  • The musical director of the festival is Zvi Meniker (a professor at the Hanover University of Music in Germany) and the artistic director of the Elma Arts Complex is Noam Ben Zeev.
