Multi-award winning Emaroo Port Hughes will have another award hanging in its entrance hall from today… last night the luxurious Yorke Peninsula holiday accommodation was inducted into the South Australian Tourism Awards Hall of Fame, having won the Deluxe Accommodation category three years in a row.

The awards were announced last night (Friday November 8) in a glittering gala presentation at the Adelaide Convention Centre in front of over 600 representatives of the South Australian tourism industry.

In receiving their high honour, owners Cathy and Rick Edmonds said that they were overwhelmed to be winners again and to achieve Hall of Fame status with the 4.5 star, two-storey beach getaway.

“Our philosophy has always been very simple – we provide the sort of accommodation we would expect when we travel.

“We are thrilled to be recognised again and it’s also a great reward for the people who have helped us along the way to be the best we can be”, they said.

Earlier this year, they won the Qantas 2013 Australian Tourism Award for Deluxe Accommodation, the first national award for Yorke Peninsula.

This year’s South Australian Tourism Awards attracted a record number of entries as the program celebrates 30 years since its introduction.

Features of the accommodation which particularly impressed judges included the property’s superb furniture, fittings and appliances, fully-equipped games room, the provision of a gourmet chef, special packages with local fishing charters and many five star facilities and comfort not usually associated with self-contained holiday accommodation.

Perhaps next year’s New Tourism Development category will be won by Cathy and Rick’s latest accommodation project, The Frames, in the Riverland. Designed by leading Adelaide architect, Paul Pruszinski (Adelaide Crowne Plaza, Conservatory on Hindmarsh) to be a platinum tourism facility on the banks of the Murray River, it will take luxury accommodation to a standard usually found only in famous international locations.

The new development is due for completion in early 2014.
