Emirates is celebrating five years of flying to Adelaide. Commencing with four weekly flights on 1 November 2012, the airline now operates daily to Dubai and by the end of 2017 will have carried more than one million passengers on the route. Emirates has also freighted more than 11 million kilograms of meat, fresh produce, manufactured goods and pharmaceuticals since 2012, opening up important new markets world-wide for South Australia. Europe continues to be the favourite destination for Adelaide passengers with London, Rome, Paris and Dublin among the top five hotspots. Dubai also ranks among the top five, with many passengers taking advantage of the carrier’s free stopover offer. Emirates works closely with South Australian suppliers for its inflight dining including  Penfolds and SA Angus Beef.
