Speaking at Arabian Travel Market this week, Emirates’ President Sir Tim Clark revealed ahead of the company’s annual results release on Thursday that in 2014, the airline had experienced its second most profitable year ever.
Speaking ahead of the company’s annual results being published on Thursday, Sir Tim said the company had benefited from new route launches and strong performance from European markets, despite the Eurozone’s financial issues, quoting growth from Greece in the face of the financial issues Greece is experiencing.
He also said that Asia had performed less well than Europe and the Middle East was highly competitive.
The upgrading of Dubai Airport’s runways last year also resulted in Emirates grounding 22 aircraft, but he said the airline had mitigated the financial risks through pre-planning.
