Emirates was named Best International Airline – Online for the fifth consecutive year at the Australian Federation of Travel Agents (AFTA) National Travel Industry Awards for Excellence (NTIA) over the weekend.

The award was presented by John Veitch, ‎Chief Executive Officer, The Travel Corporation in front of over 1,000 guests at the NTIA Gala Dinner in Sydney.

Barry Brown, Emirates Divisional Vice President for Australasia, accepted the award by thanking its employees both locally and around the world.

“We’re thrilled to be name the Best International Airline for the fifth year in a row. This is a testament to our world-class team who are the lifeblood of our airline, operating our aircraft and tending to our passengers. They are the reason we’re able to win this award and I thank them for their tremendous efforts,” said Barry Brown, Emirates Divisional Vice President for Australasia.

“When we entered the Australian market more than 20 years ago we set out to change the way Australians thought about travel. Since then we’ve opened up new and exciting destinations to visit, challenged what onboard service looked like while providing them with the best possible experience from the moment they step on board our aircraft.

“This comes as we’re offering Australian travellers greater connections to the world, with a third daily service to Brisbane from December and an upgauged third daily service to Melbourne on our iconic A380 from next March” said Mr Brown.

Emirates celebrated its fifth year as the Gold Sponsor of the NTIA, which also saw Stefania Lasek of Travel by Design in New South Wales the winner of the Emirates Travel Consultant Scholarship, beating out agents from around Australia. She won an impressive $10,000 further education fund, two return Business Class tickets to Dubai with five night’s accommodation in addition to two tickets to the Marquee at this year’s Emirates Melbourne Cup.

Emirates continues to expand its global route network of over 150 destinations in more than 80 countries and territories with newly launched destinations including Zagreb, Croatia.

Emirates passengers enjoy generous baggage allowances, 20MB of complementary Wi-Fi and more than 2,500 channels on its award-winning inflight entertainment system ice.
