Emirates to make first class even plusher to beat rivals
Emirates Airline is about to get even more opulent. Latest reports indicate the Dubai-based carrier will soon upgrade its top premium classes on its Airbus A380s and Boeing 777s to include bedrooms and room service.
Will there be butlers? We shall see. The move is in the advanced stages, according to Air Transport World. It comes as Gulf carriers duel to offer new heights of pampering and luxury.
Emirates president Tim Clark told the Wall Street Journal that the key was privacy. “Our new bedroom concept will take it to the next level.” Emirates already offers 1562 private, pod-like suites on its fleet of 218 aircraft.
Emirates is the world’s largest carrier by several measures. By 2020 it expects to have 250 aircraft in service, operating to 170 destinations and carrying 70 million passengers.
Emirates rivals are not standing still, however. Etihad Airways recently unveiled new, ultra-premium luxury class innovations on its new A380 and B787 planes.
Qatar Airways is expected to announce luxurious new service when it takes delivery of its first Airbus A380 within a few weeks.
