Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa, Australia’s luxury conservation-based resort, has appointed Karla Yum to the role of Sales Manager – MICE.

Based in the Sydney office, Karla will be focused on growing the meeting, incentive, conference, event and wedding business to drive occupancy for the resort.

Karla has extensive tourism industry and MICE sales experience with a great understanding of the luxury segment and specifically unique properties in regional destinations. She joins Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa following two successful years as Business Events Sales Executive with Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia and has worked in sales previously for Voyages, Hayman and Tourism Australia.

“I am absolutely thrilled to join the Wolgan team. The property has so much to offer the MICE and weddings market and I look forward to working closely with the industry to further raise the profile of the world-class resort within Australia and internationally,” said Karla Yum.

“We have been on an incredible journey since opening the resort four years ago and are very pleased with our success in the leisure market, resulting in full occupancy on weekends and holiday periods. Mid-week is where we see the most potential and we are currently looking to invest in facilities such as larger vehicles and outdoor function spaces that will accommodate bigger groups,” said Joost Heymeijer, General Manager, Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa.

“With her knowledge, experience and passion for the segment we look forward to Karla taking us on the next phase of our commercial journey,” added Joost Heymeijer.

Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa is a conservation-based resort that offers the rare opportunity to experience true luxury in a spectacular Australian bush setting. A scenic two and a half hour drive from Sydney in the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area, the secluded resort is nestled between two national parks and is set within its own 4,000 acre carbon-neutral conservation and wildlife reserve which can be explored through various nature based activities.
