At 27, Charles is one of the youngest General Managers of a 5-star luxury hotel property in the nation.

Charles joined Anthony John Group (owners of Emporium Hotels) as Owners Representative in March 2018, where he coordinated operations across the Group to ensure a seamless integration between the Hotel’s pre-opening program, Emporium Residential settlements and hotel development activities.

Independently owned and operated, Emporium Hotel South Bank is the vision of Anthony and Francine John, the dynamic team behind the original Emporium Hotel in Fortitude Valley, which built an enviable track record of awards and recognition. It was at this property where Charles Martin first worked in Hotels, taking a casual position within the Concierge department in 2009 and ultimately working across several departments over five years part time while he completed his studies.

Graduating from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) and Bachelor of Business Management (Marketing and Real Estate & Development), Charles spent several years working for Ernst & Young’s advisory practice across finance, mining, government and property industries, before moving to Aussie Home Loans, a wholly owned subsidiary of Commonwealth Bank of Australia, in property and operations.

Charles is a vocal member of the Brisbane community and, drawing on his extensive knowledge of business and property, is also an active board member of Business South Bank (BSB), an organisation that influences business success in the South Bank precinct by connecting, informing, advocating and promoting the precinct as an active and vibrant community.

Charles will lead a team of approximately 200, across 143 luxury accommodation suites, 220 premium residential apartments, 4 food and beverage outlets, conference and events spaces, and world-class rooftop lifestyle facilities, within the $600 million Anthony John Group Southpoint development in South Bank, Brisbane.
