Against the very best in the country, Brisbane’s privately owned and operated Emporium Hotel has taken the title of Australia’s Leading Boutique Hotel at the prestigious World Travel Awards held at the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort in Vietnam overnight.
It is the second year in a row the Emporium Hotel has taken the award, and this year saw the level of competition rise to extraordinary levels. Finalists included Art Series The Cullen, Cape Lodge at Margaret River, COMO The Treasury, Gaia Retreat & Spa, Medusa Boutique Hotel in Sydney, Ovolo Woolloomooloo, Spicers Balfour Hotel, The Henry Jones Art Hotel, The Langham in Sydney, The Lyall Hotel and Spa, The Old Clare Hotel, The Prince in Melbourne and Woodbridge on the Derwent.
The World Travel Awards serves to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global travel and tourism industry.
This stunning back-to-back achievement is testament to the Emporium Hotel’s independent ownership, leadership, team and experience offerings. A jewel in Queensland’s and Australia’s tourism crown, the hotel is consistently recognized nationally and internationally as the best of the best. Being honoured at the World Tourism Awards is yet another major coup.
Emporium Hotel General Manager Peter Savoff said the award was a reflection of each and every team member’s commitment to excelling in whatever their role. “Such acclaim does not come easily, and we are humbled to be included amongst the list of other recognised finalists,” he said. “Taking out consecutive titles is just incredible and we are so honoured.”
“Last night’s win was achieved by every single staff member; it was won by the owners in Tony and Fran John who nine years ago opened the doors to what was a new and exciting tourism offer for the country – a boutique, independently owned and operated luxury hotel, one defined by a very directional design and service commitment”.
“This vision and courage has paid off for not only the team, but for Brisbane as an exciting international city, Queensland and indeed, for Australia. We could not be more proud.”
The second luxury Emporium Hotel, at home in the $650 million Southpoint development at South Bank will open in late 2017, again breaking new ground in all levels of luxury.
