Carnival Cruise Lines is making sure the summer holidays are fun for all the family with some great deals on Christmas and New Year cruises on its latest Australian ship, Carnival Legend.

Fares on an 11-night roundtrip New Caledonia and Vanuatu Christmas cruise departing Sydney on December 16, 2014, start from $1639* per person quad share or $1829* per person twin share. Holidaymakers can spend Christmas Eve in Noumea and then relax and enjoy all the festivities of Christmas Day at sea. Other calls include Isle of Pines in New Caledonia and Mystery Island, Vila and Wala in Vanuatu.

For those looking for a New Year escape with a difference, fares on a nine-night roundtrip New Caledonia cruise departing Sydney on December 27, 2014, start from $1889* per person quad share or $2099* per person twin share.  Travellers will enjoy New Year’s Eve in Noumea and spend New Year’s Day relaxing in Lifou. Other ports include Mare, and Isle of Pines.

Sister ship Carnival Spirit is also offering a New Year’s escape to New Caledonia with fares on an eight-night roundtrip cruise departing Sydney on December 30, 2014, starting from $1669* per person quad share or $1879* per person twin share. The ship will be at sea on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, before sailing to Mare, Isle of Pines and Noumea.

Carnival Cruise Lines Vice President Australia Jennifer Vandekreeke said a cruise was the perfect way to enjoy the summer break.

“Cruising takes the hassle out of the holiday season, leaving families free to spend the days together without worrying about who will be doing the driving, the cooking – or the washing up!” Ms Vandekreeke said.

“Our cruises are also a perfect holiday option for extended family groups as we have a huge variety of activities onboard. Plus our interconnecting cabins are ideal for large family groups so we often have everyone from grandma to toddlers onboard, particularly during the holidays,” she said.

At Christmas, Carnival Cruise Lines’ ships feature special festive menus – including a full Christmas lunch – photos with Santa, a Christmas “door decorating” contest, along with other Christmas themed games and activities. There is also plenty for young cruisers to enjoy, with the onboard youth team preparing a number of events including a special Christmas show featuring the Captain.

New Year’s Eve is another special time with celebrations all over the ships, child-minding with special kids’ parties and a memorable countdown to the New Year in the Pacific.
