Hilton is embracing seasonal produce by introducing a feature ingredient of the month across all menus at its portfolio of 22 hotels operating under the Hilton Hotels & Resorts and DoubleTree by Hilton Hotels & Resorts brands across the Australasia region. Having operated in Australasia for over 40 years, the global hospitality company understands that customers today are looking for authentic culinary experiences that reflect the culture of the city they are living in or visiting. Offering guests the opportunity to savour the best tasting and freshest seasonal ingredients, hotels across Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific will feature a specific ingredient each month, starting with Corella Pears in June.
“In Australasia, a large majority of our customers dining at our outlets are people who live and work in the city – not just business and leisure guests staying at our hotels,” said Paul Hutton, vice president, Operations, Australasia. “They are looking for a place where they can gather with friends and loved ones after work or during the weekends, to enjoy a delicious meal preparing using the best seasonal ingredients set in a restaurant offering great ambience. With this in mind, our executive chefs have created an enticing seasonal menu featuring produce truly reflective of the local cities and regions they are working in.”
Hilton Australasia understands just how much food and travel go hand in hand. According to a recent survey of 2,700 travellers in Asia-Pacific commissioned by Hilton Worldwide, over a third (36 percent) cite food and drink as a key factor in where they choose to travel. And with 33 restaurants, cafés or bars across Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, the seasonal produce promotion will allow each hotel to put their own local spin on the preparation of that ingredient giving guests an authentic and unique food experience.
While every hotel will retain their individual menus and styles, the Seasonal Produce Promotion means every Hilton food and beverage outlet will now have one thing in common. Chefs across the group have created delicious seasonal produce dishes ranging from main meals, to baked sweet treats to cocktails and takeaway gifts. Diners can look forward to a focus on Olives during the month of July, followed by Whiting in August.
Hilton Sydney General Manager Ronald Van Weezel said: “We have created amazing seasonal dishes for our restaurants, bars, executive lounge, conferences and events spaces and even our room service menus. This month, our Corella Pear and almond tart is a big hit with our guests.”
The seasonal menu specials will all feature on Hilton Worldwide Australasia’s new Instagram account @eatdrinkhilton encouraging the online foodie community to connect and share snapshots from Hilton’s cafes, bars and restaurants. The Instagram handle and hashtag #eatdrinkhilton will also be promoted in menu cards profiling the month’s ingredient. As well, one F&B outlet per month will film their chef creating the special seasonal dish. This will be shared via e-mails, on websites and through social media, along with the recipe for the feature dish.
