Etihad-SWISS codeshare brings Switzerland closer

March 29, 2018 Headline News No Comments Email Email

Etihad Airways has launched a codeshare partnership with Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS), with bookings and travel effective immediately.

The agreement sees Etihad Airways place its EY flight code on SWISS services between Geneva and Zurich, two key gateway cities served in Switzerland from Australia, connecting through Abu Dhabi.

SWISS will market its LX code on Etihad Airways’ services between Zurich and Abu Dhabi, offering its passengers codeshare flights to and from the UAE’s capital city. The codeshare services are bookable now for travel anytime from now on.

Etihad chief executive, Peter Baumgartner, said the codeshare “deepens Etihad Airways’ commitment to the Swiss travel market and Switzerland, a key growing destination for travellers from Australia.

“For travellers from Switzerland, our new relationship with SWISS will provide access to Etihad’s award-winning service and the hospitality for which our Abu Dhabi home is known.

“The partnership further strengthens the historic cultural, business and tourism ties that the UAE and Switzerland have enjoyed over many decades.”

The new agreement is part of the codeshare cooperation which began in 2016 between the Lufthansa Group, of which Swiss is part, and Etihad Aviation Group.

Etihad Airways operates the B787-9 Dreamliner on its daily flights from Abu Dhabi to Zurich. Both airlines’ customers will experience acclaimed inflight service and award-winning cabin interiors, including 28 Business Studios, and 271 Economy Smart Seats.
