Europcar launches mobile app for on-the-go customers

Leading vehicle rental provider, Europcar, has launched a new mobile application in response to customers’ rapid shift to mobile and tablet devices as their preferred source of online interaction.

According to Google data on Australian car rental searches in July to August 2013, smartphone queries increased by 72 per cent while tablet queries grew by 84 per cent compared to the same time last year.

Europcar Australia and New Zealand Sales and Marketing Director, Mike Warmington, said new technologies had made a significant impact on customer behaviour in recent years, which is why Europcar has launched a solution to make booking a car simpler and easier to suit customers’ busy lives.

“Customers are now much more likely to make last minute bookings, which reflects their changing expectations to have access to convenient travel solutions at anytime from anywhere,” Mr Warmington said.

“Our new application allows customers to search for any Europcar branch worldwide and make and manage their bookings at the touch of a button.”

The Europcar app has been developed to guide customers through the complete rental experience, reducing the booking process to three simple steps:

1. Choose the time and place of rental

2. Choose the vehicle

3. Payment options: now or at the rental location.

The process also gives customers an opportunity to add any extras they need, such as child seats or GPS, and allows them to store personal data to make future bookings even easier.

With Google data showing more than a third of all car rental search queries are coming from a smartphone or tablet device, Mr Warmington said Europcar’s mobile app provided these customers with a quick and easy way to organise their vehicle rental needs.

“More and more mobile users are making purchasing decisions via their smartphones and our mobile app reflects our commitment to support customers’ changing needs,” Mr Warmington said.

“We understand that whether you are renting for business, leisure or a practical purpose like moving house, you don’t need the added hassle of a complicated vehicle rental.”

Ensuring no customer has been overlooked, the company also offers an optimised mobile website for customers who do not use an iPhone or Android phone.
