Hot on the heels of recent major award wins

Over the last couple of weeks, cities across France have picked up a series of important international awards. Especially Paris and Lyon are showing off with significant trophies won for Best Arts City, Best Student City, Best Weekend Destination and Best Business Destination.

Paris – 4th on 2016 worldwide list of “PwC Cities of Opportunity”

Up two spots from the most recent PriceWaterhouseCoopers healthy city list two years ago, the Cities of Opportunities report benchmarks broad urban qualities that make 30 global business, finance and culture capitals successful. Paris is 4th after London, Singapore and Toronto and before Amsterdam on number 5. Beneath the headline results of who finishes first, findings show the heart of the city revolves around balanced social, cultural, intellectual and economic strengths. And even in this group of cities that power the world economy, quality of life factors jump out in relation to urban success. People are at the centre of the Paris picture. Paris finished second for its cultural vitality and 5th for its strong brand.

Paris – best student city in the “QS Best Student Cities” survey

For the 4th consecutive year, Paris is number one on this annual index that assesses cities in five categories: university rankings, student mix, desirability, employer activity and affordability. QS is an organisation that links high MBA and graduate achievers with leading business schools and post grad departments, and with employers. Paris, with its 20% of international students, is leading the pack before Melbourne and Tokyo. Lyon and Toulouse are both in the top 75.

Paris – Best Arts and Culture City in the Conde Nast Traveler Readers Choice Awards

Paris won best city in the world ahead of Rome, Florence, St Petersburg and Venice in the Conde Nast Awards, that were announced in September 2016.
