North American-based Destination Management Company, EuroUSA, has announced the first in a series of US and Canadian city conference programmes targeting MICE and special interest groups looking to experience key attractions in major US and Canadian cities, whilst minimising environmental impacts.
Making the announcement, Director Timo Sarkinen, said the concept is being launched with destination San Francisco includes “green” conference and meeting venues and hotels.
Named one of the top 10 “green cities” in the U.S. by The Green Guide, and the second greenest U.S. city according to Popular Science, San Francisco was cited as a city that puts transit first; and dedicates more than 17 percent of its 49 square miles to parks and open space.
Pre and post meeting options include cycling across the Golden Gate Bridge and visits to the California Academy of Sciences and Golden Gate Park. Not to be forgotten are some of San Francisco’s icons such as Alcatraz, Cable Car ride and Fishermans Wharf and a culinary walking tour through San Francisco’s famous Chinatown. Day tours out to Sonoma’s Wine Country and through Muir Woods and onto to Sausalito can also be included. Hotels featured in the program have been recognised for their ecologically focussed features.
Other destinations currently being offered include Vancouver, Canada and Hawaii’s Big Island. More destinations will be announced in the coming months.
