Event Hotels Partner With Iconic New Zealand Hotel, the Hermitage

Two of New Zealand’s leading tourism and hospitality companies have joined forces in a unique collaboration.  Aoraki Mount Cook Alpine Village Ltd, owner of The Hermitage Hotel, and Event Hospitality and Entertainment (EVENT), owner of Rydges and QT Hotels, have entered into an agreement to link The Hermitage Hotel’s management team into the wider EVENT Hotels network.

As part of the partnership, The Hermitage Hotel will be distributed on and while retaining its iconic brand and continuing to run operations, including sales and marketing.

Sir John Davies, Chairman of AMCAVL and founder/director of parent company Trojan Holdings, says the partnership enables The Hermitage management on the ground to tap into the vast resources and knowledge of a well-established international hospitality brand.

“As a stand-alone hotel in a very remote location, we have recognised the potential to have the support of a larger, multi-property brand.  EVENT Hotels has impressed us. Their team of dedicated and experienced people know how to tailor their approach to the specific needs of each hotel within their network,” he says.

“The partnership with EVENT Hotels gives us the best of both worlds – retaining our individuality, whilst also being able to draw on wide-ranging and proven expertise, efficient systems and processes, as well as resources and training.”

Simon White, General Manager Operations, EVENT Hotels and Resorts New Zealand, says it is a privilege to partner with the very iconic New Zealand brand, The Hermitage Hotel, as well as Trojan Holdings.

“Trojan’s passion and commitment to growing tourism in the South Island through a focus on customer experience and innovative product development are philosophies that resonate well with EVENT Hotels.

“Trojan Holdings and EVENT Hotels will work together to further support and develop the hotel management teams,” says Simon.

For example, The Hermitage Hotel management will be given the opportunity to work across the  EVENT Hotels in New Zealand and gain invaluable experience, while some EVENT Hotel management will now have the opportunity to spend time working at Mount Cook,” he explains.

The Hermitage Hotel, nestled in the beautiful Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park – a UNESCO World Heritage Area, is an iconic New Zealand hotel, strongly associated with Sir Edmund Hillary, who regularly hiked the 3,724m Mount Cook.

The Hermitage Hotel/Rydges Hotel partnership begins on Monday 09th July.
