The leading wine magazine Decanter, in partnership with Vinexpo Hong Kong, the international wine and spirits event, will organise five exceptional tastings during this year’s Hong Kong event. Three masterclasses will be entirely dedicated to Italy, this year’s country of honour and will be led by world-renowned Italy specialist Ian D’Agata. A forth event invites you to discover Chinese wines commented by Li Demei. The fifth event, on discovering how Shiraz /Syrah expresses in different vineyards across the world, will be led by Decanter’s content director John Stimpfig, along with six of the world’s leading Syrah/Shiraz producers.

Ian D’Agata will lead a comparative tasting of recent and mature vintages to analyse the ageing of Barolo and Barbaresco, both renowned for their immense ageing potential. The tasting will feature:

Each producer will present a pre, and post 2000 vintage.

Shiraz/ Syrah- International expressions of a noble grape
John Stimpfig, Decanter content editor, will focus on the different expressions this noble grape variety develops as it is harvested and vinified throughout different regions of the globe. Six of the world’s leading Syrah/Shiraz producers Peter Gago, Philippe Guigal, Eduardo Chadwick, Stefano Frascolla, Matt Stafford and Tim Steinke will attend and present their wines.
