The Peninsula New York has introduced an exciting new range of tours for guests of all ages. These unique Peninsula Academy programmes range from an exclusive Broadway experience and a walking tour of Brooklyn Bridge to a Harlem Gospel Brunch and an FDNY tour.

image008Behind the Curtain: Broadway Up Close takes guests on a private tour of the historic Times Square theatre district, where a working actor will share insights into Broadway’s history and current productions. Later on, a chauffeured MINI Cooper will take guests to see the Broadway production of their choice, with the evening culminating in an intimate “talk back” – an industry term for a meeting with one of the key cast or production members after the show.

The dynamic neighbourhood of Harlem is in the spotlight on the Harlem Gospel Brunch tour. Guest can discover Harlem’s rich history and contemporary vibe on a private tour, followed by a moving gospel church service and an unforgettable brunch at a classic soul food restaurant.

Brooklyn has made its name as a creative and culinary frontier, and on the Brooklyn Bridge Walking Tour, a chauffeured MINI will zip guests into Brooklyn for a cultural walking tour of DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) followed by lunch at a famous pizzeria and a walk back to Manhattan over the iconic bridge.

image009Gourmands will also enjoy the Taste of Central Park: Foraging Tour and Picnic. On this two-hour walking experience, a professional forager will identify edible items within the sprawling city park, revealing delicate herbs and vegetables secretly growing in the wild. The tour ends on Sheep Meadow, where a Peninsula Page will greet guests with a delicious picnic using locally sourced ingredients.

Younger guests will be captivated by the FDNY Tour, where they will explore a real fire house and meet the fire fighters who keep New York City safe. They will receive their own FDNY fire helmet and take an insider’s tour of the working fire house command centre and the fire trucks. All proceeds from this tour will be donated to FDNY.

Budding young masterchefs can also try their hand at Kids in the Kitchen, where the hotel’s culinary team will teach them how to bake cookies from scratch, decorate cupcakes or create healthy smoothies.

The Peninsula Academy is a learning and activity programme created to give guests an insider introduction to key aspects of culture, lifestyle, cuisine, arts and history at the Peninsula hotels worldwide.
