Summer holidays have officially kicked off at Tangalooma Island Resort with the launch of its first ever Glass Bottom Boat experience, allowing guests to explore Tangalooma’s underwater life in a whole new light.

A unique new Moreton Island adventure after dark, the Glass Bottom Boat tour takes guests through a maze of sunken shipwrecks at dusk, while enabling them to see straight through the boat to experience the amazing spectacle of local marine life.

Underwater LED lights activated on the boat offer a rarely seen view of Tangalooma’s underwater life including a kaleidoscope of colourful fish, starfish, shovelnose rays, schools of squid, beautiful sand formulations, seagrass beds, and even dolphins.

The experience is the first of many new night-time adventures, with illuminated see-through stand up paddle boarding and transparent night kayaking set to launch at the resort over the Christmas period.

Tangalooma Island Resort’s Marketing Manager, Ben Forbes, said the Glass Bottom Boat tour is an exclusive window into an amazing underwater world, and a milestone for the resort.

“We’ve wanted a glass bottom boat for a really long time so we are very excited to finally be able to offer this experience to our guests. At Tangalooma, we’re all about being at one with nature. This experience brings an exciting new layer of marine life interaction and education to Tangalooma’s unique island activities,” Mr Forbes said.

“Guests will be able to kick back, relax and soak up the beautiful Tangalooma horizon and watch our amazing sea life in action and in a different light – literally, while learning about our wonderful array of sea creatures and their home.

“Our boat fits up to 40 passengers, with ample space for everyone to see through the glass and really enjoy the island’s natural surroundings.”

The Glass Bottom Boat forms part of a raft of new adventure and exploration based tours rolling out at the resort this summer.*

The Tangalooma Night-Time Glass Bottom Boat experience is currently available at $55 per adult and $35 per child with the duration of the tour estimated at one hour and 30 minutes.

Tangalooma Island Resort offers guests a true Queensland experience, just a short boat cruise from Brisbane. With a wide range of accommodation options for guests to suit all budgets and requirements, the island also offers a range of island based activities, including wild dolphin feeding, sand tobogganing, quad bike tours, whale-watching (June-October), snorkelling tours and many more.
