For many Australians, Bali offers a paradise retreat: from its luminous scenery and ancient temples to luscious beaches, but no trip is complete without exploring the local cuisine.http://www.tourismlegal.com.au/

Indonesia is renowned for its vibrant culinary culture with a complex balance of exotic herbs and spices. The caramel richness of palm sugar paired with the zingy perfume of Kaffir lime; rich coconut milk flavoured with warming nutmeg; and the fire of a traditional sambal all create a uniquely delicious cuisine.

This August, Sheraton Grand Sydney is partnering with Club Marriott for a 10-day Indonesian culinary journey, giving Sydneysiders the chance to explore a tantalizing menu without having to leave town.

Helmed by renowned Chef Taufik from The Laguna, a five-star Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua, Sheraton Eats: Flavours of Indonesia promises a gastronomic tour of the world’s largest archipelago, that will transport you to the shimmering lagoons and magnificent panoramas for an evening’s adventure.

From August 15 to 24, immerse yourself in an authentic Balinese dining experience with a buffet feast that highlights the best of traditional Indonesian cuisine. Taste your way through an aromatic menu of Balinese duck marinated with aromatic herbs and wrapped in banana leaves, deep-fried chicken with turmeric and galangal crumble, authentic satay wrapped around fresh lemongrass and the intensely flavoursome ‘king of curries’ beef rendang daging. This is world-class street food with a seriously sophisticated twist.

Consul General of Indonesia in Sydney Heru Subolo comments, “I commend the Sheraton Grand Sydney for its’ initiative in hosting this event.  We are proud to support this fantastic food festival which will also highlight the five national foods of Indonesia, including our traditional nasi goreng and our famous spicy beef rendang, listed as one of CNN’s world’s 50 best foods.” He adds, “I hope this event will inspire renewed interest to visit Indonesia and embrace the majestic wonders of our diverse destination.”

Sharing his vision for the event, Taufik notes “It is such a tremendous opportunity to be involved with Sheraton Eats – Flavours of Indonesia.  This is food from my childhood and to share that with Sydney is truly special.” He adds, “The event also falls across the Indonesian Independence Day on August 17 that is such an important, historic day for all Indonesians. It’s going to be a remarkable celebration and it’s a real honour to bring that celebration to Sydney.”

In conjunction with Sheraton Eats, Club Marriott is also giving one lucky diner the chance to win a dream holiday to Indonesia, including return flights for two and five nights of accommodation, with three nights at the luxurious Laguna, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Nusa Dua and two nights at the extraordinary W Bali.
