Adrenaline junkies and adventure seekers can ride through the rugged, rarely visited West Bengal region of eastern India on the back of a Himalayan Royal Enfield motorbike as part of an exploratory recce ride offered by Nomadic Knights.

For a limited time, Nomadic Knights is offering a US$500 discount on all bookings made on its 14-night West Bengal recce ride beginning on October 26, 2019, in Calcutta, India.  The discount is available until sold out.

Nomadic Knights is the first, foreign motorcycle tour group to ever take riders into West Bengal, with the company aiming to use the recce trip to plan more trips to the region in the near future.

The recce ride is a challenging journey on unfamiliar roads and trails that is motorcycle adventuring in its purest form. Although the exact itinerary has yet to be decided, the exploratory journey will take riders through some of India’s most beautiful scenery.

Beginning in Calcutta, the journey takes riders through the tribal state of Odisha. Boasting more than 700 temples, Odisha is one of the most culturally rich regions in India. The group will then make their way into the Eastern Ghats mountain range running parallel to the Bay of Bengal and along India’s east coast. This section of the trip will have some scenic yet challenging riding. The ride then loops back around into the Indian Sundarbans. Meaning ‘beautiful forest,’ the Sundarbans in the Ganges delta comprise the largest mangrove forest in the world. The less-travelled Sundarbans are also home to the largest concentration of Bengal tigers in the world. Guests will then cross the Ganges by boat and make their way back to Calcutta.

Guests will be riding the Royal Enfield Himalayan adventure bike, custom-designed for rough off-road mountain journeys with long-travel suspension, superior versatility, all-day comfort as well as a USB charging point.

* The 14-night ‘Hinterland’ recce ride on October 26, 2019, is available for US$4480 for riders, including the US$500 discount until sold out, using the code ‘Hinterland500’. Fares include accommodation, bike hire, breakfasts, dinners and mechanical and logistical support throughout the trip. Flights to India are extra.

For people looking for a more conventional tour and ride with a set itinerary, Nomadic Knights has seven other breathtaking journeys throughout South India, the Indian Himalayas, the North East of India and to Everest Base Camp in Tibet.

Nomadic Knights is owned by Alex Pirie, a Scot who moved to India in 2008. Alex has ridden more than 200,000km across India on classic Royal Enfield motorbikes. Nomadic Knights attracts adventurers from around the world, with Australia, the UK and USA the key markets.
