On ‘International Polar Bear Day’, polar expedition cruise specialist, One Ocean Expeditions (OOE) pays tribute to its talented team of staff photographers, award winning photographers-in-residence, and the company’s innovative Circumpolar Arctic voyage programming.

With a reported 25,000 polar bears across the circumpolar region, the spotlight shines on the Arctic 2018 season with endless opportunities to explore and witness the almighty polar bear in its natural environment. “It is truly an honour and a privilege to share any amount of time with one of nature’s most magnificent animals. I wish everyone out there could experience even just one day with polar bears”, says Dave Sandford, OOE photographer-in-residence.

Professional and amateur photographers alike travel to the Arctic to test their skills in the hope of securing visual treasures from the North. Onboard each Arctic voyage, OOE hosts renowned photographers-in-residence to escort guests on a photographic journey from Iqaluit through to Cambridge Bay. Next summer, Canadian photographers Dave SandfordJeff TophamBoomer Jerritt and Roger Pimenta will join OOE’s talented crew and share their knowledge on the complexity of night photography, helping guests to capture the Aurora Borealis, the glow of the midnight sun, the sight of a polar bear hunting a seal, or the majestic beauty of an iceberg in early morning light.

From June to mid-September, One Ocean Expeditions presents the opportunity to capture the magnificent polar bears of the Arctic alongside expert photographers, beginning in Spitsbergen, June 19th with the Spitsbergen Encounter – Photography Symposium. The Canadian Arctic cruise season commences shortly after and spans over five weeks, beginning with the 11-night ‘Baffin Island – Jewel of the Arctic’ voyage. Introduced two seasons ago, this popular expedition has become one of the top selling voyages of the Arctic, as guests enjoy outstanding wildlife sightings and visit historic locations of early Artcic exploration.
