The palate awakens each day to a new, destination-focused breakfast experience at Plaza Athénée, A Royal Méridien Hotel and, indeed, at Le Méridien hotels and resorts throughout Asia and around the world, from 01 February 2014.

Signature BreakfastWith offering guests perspective-changing experiences central to the Le Méridien motivation, Plaza Athénée, A Royal Méridien presents new “Classics Awakened” signature breakfast menus comprising continental café classics with a Thai twist, accompanied by “Eye Opener” early morning beverages infused with local flavours.

The new breakfasts also chime with Le Méridien’s new “destination unlocked” hospitality  concept that gives each hotel a distinctive flavour unique to its location, and resonate with key elements of the brand’s European heritage, in this case notably “café culture”.

Plaza Athénée, A Royal Méridien guests will now awaken to inspiring new menus of six dishes and six beverages.

The “Classics Awakened” includes special omelette, eggs Benedict, tartine, brioche, croissant and crèpe recipes created by the hotel’s award-winning culinary team led by Executive Chef Thibault Chiumenti.

The Thai-style “Gang Kiew Waan” omelette is a traditional omelette with a coconut green curry and prawn filling, resonating with a local favourite. Panang curry and sea crab offers an intriguing new take on the Eggs Benedict, or poached egg, classic. Smoked Salmon and coconut cream cheese tartine bridges the breakfast preferences of East and West populations while Brioche shows how versatile it is with a subtle blend of spicy sausage from Thailand’s north-eastern region. Similar enhancements are made to croissant, here mixed with coconut and cashew nut, and crèpe pancakes, here sautéed with pandan and garnished with candied pomelo.

As for the “Eye Openers”, guests will get a deeper sense of Thailand with every sip. “Phuket” is a refreshing mix of papaya, pineapple and cloves, “Tom Yam” subtly blends lemongrass, chilli, lime and coconut, “Mamuang” is a balanced indulgence of Mango, Coconut Milk and Yellow Beans, “Butterfly Flower + honey”, “Sense of Sour” lives up to its name with a delicate blend of guava, lime, celery, and “Rim Suan” presents a superfood prospect of passion fruit, banana and yogurt.

The new breakfast items are available both with room service and on the daily international breakfast buffets at The Rain Tree Café.
