Fairlawns Boutique Hotel & Spa Becomes Only Boutique Hotel Member To The Prestigious International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association (Iglta)

Fairlawns Boutique Hotel & Spa (FBH), located in the distinguished Sandton suburb of Morningside, in Johannesburg, has recently become a member of the prestigious International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA).

This comes as a result of the hotel’s participation at the recent Global Convention held in Cape Town, making this popular, 5* hotel the only official member in Johannesburg.

Says Michael Kewley, Managing Director of FBH “This was the first time I have attended this prestigious networking event for LGBT tourism professionals.  Such an exciting new partnership, including our already longstanding association with Virtuoso, will not only increase the hotel’s global awareness but also increase tourism with the network of successful businesses supporting LGBT tourism’.

“The hospitality industry is going through change”, continues Michael.  “It is also critical for a small boutique hotel such as Fairlawns to match if not exceed guest expectation.  Upon the recent change of ownership of FBH, the decision was made to undergo an extensive R25 million refurbishment.  Being personally very involved with this transition, it is my objective to create a new chapter with the underlying philosophy of “The Story of a House … which has become a Hotel.”

Commemorating and celebrating the warmth and character that was once home to a family, the hotel is now a home to guests; offering only luxury suite style accommodation with close attention and an intimate atmosphere inside and out, it is the epitome of tranquility.  Changes which have already transpired include The Manor House Bistro – an ideal spot to dine on light meals, and ogle the cake trolley, inspired by the Ritz in London.  Or alternatively, book a glamorous and unforgettable evening at the new ‘Into the Woods’ – a private fine dining experience for a maximum of 12 guests in the Enchanted Forest.  Also on the cards, is a dramatic re-design to the Courtyard Suites 1-12.  “This seems only fitting,” says Michael “As this is where the story of Fairlawns Boutique Hotel originated 19 years ago”, he concludes.
