Fancourt Gears Up To Host 2017 Amateur Open (22nd Successive Year)

Fancourt has announced that entries are now officially open for the 2017 Amateur Open.  Hailed as one of the most popular events on golfing calendars, amateurs (both locally and abroad) are invited to swing into form during this annual tournament held in South Africa’s Garden Route golfing mecca, from 09 – 14 May 2017.

The open tournament will incorporate two rounds on each of the renowned Montagu and Outeniqua courses, both of which have garnered praise from the international golfing community from all around the world.   The sprawling parkland courses of Montagu and Outenqiua are ranked 06th and 16th respectively, as part of Golf Digest South Africa’s Top Golf Courses, meaning that rounds on each of these courses is an exciting opportunity, and not always an option for every player.

Format of play is a 72-hole Medal Competition for A Division Players (0-9 handicap) and Individual Stableford for B Division Players (10 – 18 handicap).  A practice round on Montagu or Outeniqua is also included.  For those on the package and residing at Fancourt, there is the option to book the Links on Tuesday or Sunday and therefore arrange flight times accordingly. Alternatively, if players would like to arrive on Monday 8th, special accommodation rates are available and you will also be able to play the Links (as an option). Rates are indicated below.

For some, playing in the Amateur Open is a ritual, as is staying at the hotel itself where many ‘old friends’ reconnect during the five-day period.  This year, Fancourt have prepared a fully-inclusive package.  For just R11 200 per golfer sharing, golfers can enjoy five nights’ accommodation, five breakfasts, three dinner functions with entertainment, and five x 18 holes of play, including tournament entry and giveaways.  Prizes and trophies will be awarded daily for all divisions.  Those wanting to book for arrival Monday 8th, the rate is R1342 per person sharing or R2013 single bed and breakfast
