A first for the attraction, Madame Tussauds Hong Kong has created wax figures based on fictional characters from the same movie. Combined with special lighting and visual effects, as well as tailored interactive experiences – guests are guaranteed a one-of-a-kind experience at this brand new fantasy area.

To mark this momentous occasion, the five leading protagonists from“The Monkey King” including Aaron Kwok, Donnie Yen, Joe Chen, Xia Zi Tong and Zhang Zilin officiated the newly positioned wax figures at the unveiling ceremony; supported by Mr. Jeffrey Lee, General Manager, Business Development of Hong Kong Tourism Board, Mr. Yiu Si Wing, Legislative Councilor (Tourism), Mr. Andrew Yu, Director of Filmko Pictures and Kelly Mak, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong.

All aspects of styling have been carefully orchestrated around the RMB500 million dollar production masterpiece – “The Monkey King”, and the wax figures have fully captured these details, making each one distinct.

Monkey King, played by Donnie Yen, is dressed in red and gold armour and a gold cloak. With piercing eyes, he appears as a true hero holding his golden cudgel; Buffalo Demon King played by Aaron Kwok appears for the first time with a new look designed by prominent Art Director, William Chang. Ruling the demon world with almighty power, he holds a double-edged axe with fearless eyes; Princess Iron Fan played by Joe Chen shows her unyielding character through her facial expression and holds her powerful palm-leaf fan, ready to blow away her enemies. The white Silver Fox played by Xia Zi Tong sits peacefully on a rock, exuding an aura with the protection of Monkey King. And, finally, the mythical Nu Wa played by Zhang Zilin combines magical elements and appears in a human and snake figure, showing off her multi-coloured tail and long shiny hair.

Precision has gone into the production of each wax figure and the five protagonists are full of praise for the wax figures; Donnie Yen feels that the design reflects Flying Monkey’s agile personality; while Aaron Kwok trusts the wax figure has captured every detail of his character, commending the craftsmanship and detail.

The three actresses Joe Chen, Xia Zi Tong and Zhang Zilin were very excited about their first wax figure launch at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong and they hope people will appreciate their new look.
