Fashion Outlets Of Las Vegas Wins A Gold Sasi Award at The 2017 One Travel Conference In Las Vegas

The recent ONE Travel Conference for Shopping, Dining & Cultural Tourism held in Las Vegas featured the Awards Presentation for the SASI (Shop America Salutes Innovation) honoring shopping and cultural tourism marketing excellence.

The awards, sponsored by CenterCal Properties in partnership with Shop America Alliance and the U.S. Cultural & Heritage Tourism Marketing Council, honored both winners and finalists.

Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas won a GOLD SASI Award for their entry, “Time to Shop” The Turn-Around Story of Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas. “Time to Shop” is the case study of Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas and how after declining sales of more than a year, plus a loss of tenants, they re-launched their new Travel & Tourism Program and saw positive results in sales within the fourth month of what was a long-term strategy to make the Center healthy again. Under most circumstances, these types of outreach programs usually do not show results until anywhere from one to three years! The Program was a comprehensive B2B outreach initiative that targeted the travel trade, especially the tour operators, who had the greatest propensity to drive both group business and FIT travel to the center. Combined with the opening of key new stores such as H&M and Samsonite, the program saw results within the first few months. In addition to an aggressive outreach and trade show schedule, programs were supplemented with social media, public relations, special events, e-blast programs, new collateral, shopping packages, group-friendly dining programs, upgraded fulfillment for the traveler and enhanced tour guide incentive programs.
SASI-ONE Awards recognize prominent leaders in the tourism industry for their vision and commitment to developing shopping and cultural tourism. The achievements of SASI-ONE Winners from throughout North America and the winners of the special awards were showcased in a video presentation during the Conference.
Criteria for the SASI-ONE Award Entry Includes the following and judging is based on a point system by professionals in the travel and tourism industry:
1. Programs that promote Shopping, Dining and/or Cultural & Heritage experiences as tourism activities.
2. Demonstrates creativity and innovation appealing to target audience.
3. Delivers return on investment in terms of sales impact or increased awareness.
4. Demonstrates effective use of resources and partnerships where applicable.
