The airport company welcomes the “Traffic and Bottleneck Analysis for the Airport and the Surrounding Area” carried out by the Cottbus Chamber of Commerce and Industry published today.http://www.stevecafeandcuisine.com/ The traffic measures required according to the study are essentially in line with the airport company’s own assessments. These include the continuation of the Jürgen-Schumann-Allee, new motorway junctions and extensions to junctions, the construction of the “Hubertus-Waltersdorf” transversal and the extension of the U7 underground line.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Engelbert Lütke Daldrup, CEO of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH:“The airport is what drives the growth of this dynamic region. The IHK study names important road construction measures and the extension of the underground so that the airport region, which is currently thriving, will continue to do so into the future in terms of traffic. The airport company has taken the necessary precautions to be able to cope with airport traffic by constructing the station under the passenger terminal and ensuring there is a sufficient number of parking spaces. In particular, the BER’s good rail connections will ensure that road traffic does not become a problem because of the airport.”

The airport company worked with the municipality of Schönefeld to present joint plans for the further development of the airport’s surrounding area as early as in November 2018. They comprise a series of measures for the transport infrastructure in the vicinity of the future Capital Airport BER based on the land-use planning of the municipality of Schönefeld and the master plan BER 2040 of the airport company.
