The Adelaide Convention Bureau (ACB) welcomes the announcement by Federal Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, the Hon Senator Simon Birmingham, which alters eligibility criteria for the

$12 million Business Events Bid Fund Program, which is managed by Tourism Australia.

Damien Kitto, ACB Chief Executive said that Business events are worth hundreds of millions a year to the South Australian economy. “The changes will assist South Australia and other ‘regional’ business event destinations be more competitive when bidding for smaller international events. This is extremely important, as bidding for such events is highly competitive, and increasingly so, because of their economic spin off to local economies,” he said.

The ACB has partnered with Tourism Australia many times to access and achieve success through the bid fund. “So, we applaud that the changes now broaden funding support to assist South Australia’s bid to host highly sought after, and lucrative international business events,” said Mr Kitto.
